Linzor Capital Partners, a signatory of the Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI), will participate between August and November 2021 in the PRI-sponsored Latin American Investors Climate Initiative (ICIL), which will offer a training program to serve as roadmap for the strengthening of climate-related practices among Latin American investors. The goal of the initiative is for participating firms to take 5 actions to further improve their policies and practices regarding climate change.
ICIL Actions:
• Action 1: Publicly support the Paris Agreement
• Action 2: Publicly support the Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures
• Action 3: Identify climate-related risks and opportunities
• Action 4: Use scenario analysis to manage climate-related risks
• Action 5: Define and communicate key climate performance indicators
Participation in this climate initiative is well aligned with Linzor’s commitment to integrating environmental considerations into its investment decisions and portfolio management processes. The firm has already been monitoring a set of environmental indicators concerning energy consumption, energy efficiency, use of renewable energy, carbon emissions, resource conservation, and waste management, among others, throughout its portfolio companies. Linzor has also implemented annual ESG and impact reviews of its portfolio, where a committee comprised of Linzor professionals and external experts meet with each company’s management team to discuss progress and set targets related to SDG #13 (Climate Action) and carbon footprint reduction, among other relevant ESG and impact topics. By participating in ICIL, Linzor hopes to significantly step up its climate efforts through the adoption of international best practices in climate strategy for investment firms in the private equity asset class.
PRI is an international organization of investors supported by the United Nations. Since 2018, PRI has been helping its signatories in Latin America to develop and strengthen their practices in the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in investment decisions. With this initiative, PRI seeks to further help the signatories in the region to generate impact in the real world by considering climate change in a strategic fashion in their investment processes.
