Mundo provides free internet connectivity to Villa Trintre

As part of a public-private collaboration, Mundo installed its fiber optic network in Villa Trintre and the Juana Manquiñir indigenous community, located in La Araucanía region in Southern Chile. This digital advance was made possible through the collaboration of the governmental program Compromiso País, the telecommunications company Mundo, and representatives from the Juana Manquiñir indigenous community. Thanks to this project, approximately 200 families in Villa Trintre and Juana Manquiñir have gained access to telephone and internet services, thus improving their quality of life.

As part of the initiative, Mundo is providing free high-speed internet to 8 social institutions, including the G-32 Villa Trintre school, the local hospital, the neighborhood council, the library, and the fire department, among others. Linzor Capital Partners, which is the majority shareholder of Mundo, contributed additional funds to donate equipment, such as notebooks, projectors, printers and desktop computers.

Enrique Coulembier, CEO of Mundo, stated “We are happy to help, this is public-private synergy. Mundo is characterized by reaching places that have been traditionally relegated in connectivity matters and we have always been available to contribute to bridge the digital divide in Chile. We have provided free services to over 1,500 social organizations and institutions in 160 communes within the 8 regions in which we are present and we will continue to do so.”

Mundo is currently carrying out an ambitious last mile fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) project, with an emphasis on relegated areas. Today, 16 of the 32 communes in the Araucanía Region have access to the Mundo’s network. The challenge for the company is to achieve total coverage, connecting one hundred percent of the region in the medium term.

Mundo is a portfolio company of Linzor Capital Partners, a leading Latin American private equity firm investing in middle market businesses with solid growth potential. Linzor has invested close to $1.1 billion in 24 deals since its founding in 2006. Its portfolio of investments covers diverse sectors, including financial services, education, telecommunications, healthcare and retail. In 2021, the firm received a social responsibility award from LAVCA, the Latin American Private Capital Association, for its investment in Mundo.
